Celliara comparison
NuFACE Trinity+ vs FOREO BEAR 2
Two face-and-neck microcurrent toners with the same five-sessions-a-week start. One works from the box with NuFACE's activator and room for attachments; the other unlocks through FOREO's app and takes any water-based gel.
Our answer
It depends on how you want to set up and what goes on your skin.
Both need a conductive layer every session and five sessions a week for the first 60 days. Celliara's evidence record does not show either producing better results, so the choice comes down to setup, control and the gel you use.
Choose the NuFACE Trinity+ to start without a phone, adjust the output on the device with a temporary Boost, and add NuFACE attachments later. Choose the FOREO BEAR 2 for ten levels, several microcurrent types and the freedom to use any water-based gel, after a one-time unlock in FOREO's app.

Decide on these
The four differences that decide it
Each one can change which device you should buy. Read the product facts side by side, then what they mean for you.
Getting started
Trinity+Works from the box: treatment profiles are stored on the device, and NuFACE's app is optional.
BEAR 2Ships locked. FOREO's manual requires the FOREO For You app, an account, Bluetooth pairing and your purchase details before the first session; after that, one-button use.
What this means for you
If you would rather not create an account or pair a phone, the Trinity+ avoids it. The BEAR 2's setup happens once.
Who this favours The Trinity+, if you want to skip the app.
How you adjust it
Trinity+You raise or lower the output level on the device, and a Boost button raises it temporarily for a target area; NuFACE does not publish how many levels there are.
BEAR 2Ten levels in Beginner and Pro modes, four microcurrent types and five T-Sonic massage patterns, with current regulation FOREO says reads your skin 200 times a second.
What this means for you
Both let you adjust the intensity. The BEAR 2 offers more named settings and massage patterns; the Trinity+ offers a temporary Boost. Celliara's evidence record does not show more settings producing a bigger result.
Who this favours A control preference.
What goes on your skin first
Trinity+A mask-like layer of NuFACE activator every session; NuFACE's manual says consequences of a non-NuFACE conductive alternative are not its responsibility.
BEAR 2A water-based gel or serum every session. FOREO says any one works, aloe vera gel included; none comes in the box.
What this means for you
With the BEAR 2 you can use a gel you already buy; the Trinity+ ties you to NuFACE's activator.
Who this favours The BEAR 2, if you want to choose your own gel.
What you can add later
Trinity+An attachment system: the Facial Trainer is included; Lip & Eye and LED attachments are sold separately and are final sale from NuFACE.
BEAR 2No attachments; FOREO lists no replacement parts.
What this means for you
Only the Trinity+ can grow with add-ons, and they cost extra. If you will only use the standard head, that room goes unused.
Who this favours The Trinity+, if you plan to add attachments.
Looks decisive, but shouldn’t be
- The microcurrent figures
- FOREO states up to 680 µA for the BEAR 2 as a maximum, not the output at each level. NuFACE publishes no microamp figure for the Trinity+, and its FDA filing states only a maximum current density. The figures are not a like-for-like measure, and a higher number is not a bigger visible result.
- The FDA clearance
- The Trinity+ is cleared under FDA 510(k) K201782 for over-the-counter cosmetic facial and neck stimulation; the filing recorded no clinical testing, and clearance is not proof of a result. Celliara makes no regulatory claim for the BEAR 2.
- The studies behind them
- FOREO's 30-day study tested the BEAR 2 itself with instruments, but it is FOREO-run and has no control group. NuFACE's reported outcome data come from the earlier Trinity, not the Trinity+. Celliara's evidence record holds no study comparing these two, so neither study decides between them.
- The warranties
- NuFACE publishes two years for purchases from authorized sellers; FOREO publishes a two-year limited warranty that you activate by registering, with your original receipt. Celliara has not verified either Amazon seller or that either warranty covers these orders, so neither decides between them.
- The score gap
- Trinity+ scores 8.1 and BEAR 2 8.2. The BEAR 2 scores slightly higher overall. The gap comes from ownership experience; on results, product capability, routine fit, value and purchase confidence they earn the same grades. It does not decide this choice.
Where they’re even
- The same commitment
- Both makers ask for five sessions a week for the first 60 days, then two or three a week to maintain, and any effect lasts only while you keep it up.
- A conductive layer every time
- Neither works on bare skin: each session starts with a thin, mask-like layer on clean skin.
- Face and neck only
- Both makers limit use to the face and neck, and both say to keep away from the eye area and the midline of the neck.
- The same purchase route
- Both links go to the brand's own storefront on Amazon and check out through Amazon, so returns follow the Amazon listing and the terms shown at checkout. Neither brand's own website return offer is stated for Amazon orders.
Match your priorities
Which fits what matters to you?
Find the priorities that sound like you. Where both devices do it, or neither does, we say so.
| If this matters most | Fits better | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Starting without an app or account | The BEAR 2 needs FOREO's app, an account and pairing before its first session. | |
| A temporary Boost for a target area | Only the Trinity+ has one. | |
| Adding attachments later | Only the Trinity+ has an attachment system. | |
| Using a gel you already own | FOREO says any water-based gel works; NuFACE's manual disclaims non-NuFACE conductive alternatives. | |
| Many named intensity settings | Ten levels in two modes and four microcurrent types; NuFACE publishes no step count for the Trinity+. | |
| Washing the device under water | The BEAR 2 is waterproof; NuFACE says never to submerge the Trinity+. | |
| Five sessions a week to start | Either | Both makers ask for it for the first 60 days. |
| A warranty confirmed for these Amazon orders | Not verified | NuFACE's warranty covers authorized-seller purchases and FOREO's needs registration and your receipt; Celliara has not verified either Amazon seller or that either warranty covers these orders. |
| Treating beyond the face and neck | Neither | Both makers limit use to the face and neck. |
Understand the tradeoff
Why those differences matter
From the box, or after an app unlock
The Trinity+ stores its treatment profiles on the device, so you can treat without a phone; NuFACE's app adds step-by-step guidance if you want it. The BEAR 2 ships locked: FOREO's manual requires the FOREO For You app, an account, Bluetooth pairing and your purchase details before the first session, and after that it runs from one button.
What this means for you
If an account and a phone at setup put you off, that settles it for the Trinity+. If a one-time unlock is fine, it is not a reason to avoid the BEAR 2.
On-device adjustment with Boost, or named levels and modes
Both let you choose the intensity. The Trinity+ runs from two buttons: you raise or lower the output on the device and press Boost to raise it temporarily for a target area. The BEAR 2 has ten levels in Beginner and Pro modes, four microcurrent types and five T-Sonic massage patterns.
What this means for you
Choose the kind of control you will use. More settings are not shown to produce a bigger result.
What goes on your skin
NuFACE builds the Trinity+ routine around its own activator, and its manual says consequences of a non-NuFACE conductive alternative are not its responsibility. FOREO says any water-based gel or serum works with the BEAR 2, aloe vera gel included, though none comes in the box.
What this means for you
If you already have a water-based gel you like, the BEAR 2 lets you keep using it; with the Trinity+, plan on buying NuFACE's activator.
