The Celliara category guide

Red light therapy panels

Panels of red and near-infrared LEDs you sit in front of, sold for at-home skin-appearance routines. Celliara has fully reviewed six panels; how much area you want to cover and where the panel will live decide most of the choice.

What actually separates these panels

Use these to choose between any red light panels, including ones we have not reviewed.

How much area it covers

Compact panels such as MitoMIN 2.0 suit the face; mid-size panels such as MitoMID 2.0 add the neck or a shoulder; 36-inch panels such as Hooga HG1000, MitoMAX 2.0 and MitoMEGA 2.0 cover large areas in one position. Extra area adds coverage, not an established facial-results advantage.

How it stands or mounts

MitoMIN 2.0 has a kickstand, and Hooga HG1000 ships with a hanging kit and door mount. MitoMEGA 2.0 and MitoMAX 2.0 need a mount or stand you supply, because Mito's own stands do not fit them.

Distance and routine

Each maker sets the distance and session length: Mito's manuals give 6 to 12 inches and about ten minutes per area, while Hooga sets distance in its manual and caps sessions at 20 minutes. Closer means more light, so follow the manual.

Wavelengths and controls

The panels here pair red light around 660 nm with near-infrared around 850 nm, with red, near-infrared or both selectable; BestQool adds 630 and 940 nm. A longer wavelength list is a specification, not a better result.

Whose output figure it is

Most output numbers are the maker's own. MitoMIN 2.0's output was independently measured, and BestQool's independently measured output came in below its headline figure. Treat an unverified figure as a claim.

Trial, warranty and value

Bought direct, Mito offers a 60-day full-refund trial and a two-year replacement warranty; Hooga's three-year warranty applies automatically. Prices change, so each review and our best picks page show the current listed price.

The panels Celliara has reviewed

Every panel Celliara has fully reviewed, grouped by size. This is our coverage, not a ranking. Mito's newer MitoADAPT 4.0, MitoPRO X and MitoPRO+ panels, and its helmet, belt and pod devices, are not yet fully reviewed, so they are not listed.

Red light panel questions, answered

What does a red light therapy panel do?

It shines red and near-infrared light on your skin from a set distance, and Celliara covers it for skin appearance. Any change is gradual and builds over weeks to months.

Do I need a big panel for my face?

No. Larger panels add area, not an established facial-results advantage. A full-size panel makes sense when you also want to treat larger areas in one position.

How far should I sit from the panel?

Follow your panel's manual: Mito's give 6 to 12 inches, and Hooga sets distance in the HG1000 manual. Closer means more light.

Does Celliara cover helmets, belts or pods?

Not yet. This hub covers the six panels Celliara has fully reviewed; Mito's helmet, belt and pod devices and its newer panel lines are not yet reviewed.

Can anyone use a red light panel?

No. Each maker lists who should not use its panel and how to protect your eyes. Celliara's reviews summarise the information available to Celliara, which may not include every exact-model instruction or restriction, so read the exact model's current manufacturer instructions before you buy or use one, and contact the manufacturer if anything is unclear.
